The RFSA becomes EMERG’IN’s stakeholder committee.
Emerg’In is a National Research Infrastructure dedicated to combatting emerging or zoonotic animal infectious diseases through in vivo exploration.
On the roadmap of MESRI (Ministry of Higher Education and Research) since 2018, it comprises five recognized experimental infectiology platforms from INRAE (Nouzilly and Jouy-en-Josas), ANSES (Ploufragan-Plouzané and Malzéville), and CIRAD (Montpellier). These platforms are equipped with laboratories and animal facilities with containment levels adapted for infectiology research across a very wide range of livestock and wildlife species.
These experimental facilities are open to all public research stakeholders and the private sector.
With the latter, it aims to establish Public-Private partnerships in the veterinary diagnostics and medicine sector, as well as in the innovation sector targeting the control of infectious agents and their vectors.
Its director, Fabrice Laurent, proposed that the RFSA form the stakeholder committee for the national Emerg’In infrastructure.
The RFSA Steering Committee accepted this mission, as it brings together the entire French community involved in “Animal Health.”
Fabrice Laurent therefore joins the RFSA Steering Committee as the structure’s director, and he will consult the network for advice on topics to be addressed within the infrastructure.
