Presentation of the Ecoantibio “Antiparasitic Resistance” Award at the National Veterinary School of Toulouse
The 2026 Ecoantibio Antiparasitic Resistance Award was presented to Julie PETERMANN (ENVT) for the publication “Automated larval motility assays reveal links between eprinomectin treatment failure and drug resistance in Haemonchus contortus“.
The award was presented to Julie Petermann on October 26, 2026, during a meeting of the RFSA Antiparasitic Working Group chaired by Philippe Jacquiet.
This publication was selected by the jury, chaired this year by Professor Jacques Guillot. It achieved the highest score, combining scientific rigor, relevance to the objectives of the Ecoantibio plan, and potential applicability.
This study aims to establish a link between the therapeutic failure of eprinomectin against H. contortus in dairy sheep farms in southwestern France and the drug potency, as determined by the larval motility phenotype in an in vitro test.
It provides a scientifically supported response to a central issue regarding the sustainability of antiparasitic use in livestock farming and opens a new path to not only optimize the use of existing drugs but also to promote sustainable agricultural practices capable of mitigating resistance, preserving animal health, and maintaining productivity in the face of evolving parasitic challenges.”
